Vodafone launches mobile phone service
Vodafone's director of brand strategy and manifestation, David Erixon, announced that they would be launching a mobile phone business within Second Life at the Marketing Week Interactive Conference. Vodafone and others have had VoIP phone services inside Second Life for some time now. Remember Vivox's Million Minutes promotion last October? The difference here is that there is no telephone booth that the user must occupy to make calls. Vodafone's new service makes the phones untethered, and allows users to have conversations between islands in Second Life or between Second Life and the real world.
